Can't think of one 64 to 73 Mustang with hood insulation. Can you? I get a kick (your words -remember) out of the so called expertscoming up to me and telling me about their grandfather's original 63 Mustang. Wow!

Down load the body parts and sheet metal section. Page 149. I get a kick (my words and yours) out of informing experts that some of us own originals that came with all the factory parts. Like "hood insulation". And the fasteners. I wonder how many "original" Boss 302's junked their hood insulation so they could install their non factory Shaker assemblies?
Ah, an expert speaks - sort of. Hood insulation was only used on 1969 and 1970 Mach I and Grande's with 351, 390 and 428 engines (variances for engine toyears). Not on a 200 I6 or a 250 I6 or a 302 or a sportsroof 351, 390, 428 or a . . . you get the idea.

Hood insulation is also known as a smother blanket to help squelch an underhood fire. The theory goes that when the plastic clips melt, the blanket drops and smothers the fire.
Just a piece of trivia I picked up during my 3 week career working at a new car dealership....
