just so you guys know there IS a difference. i had pulled my heads a couple times to do work, and the first time i was getting gas pretty much whereever was cheapest. well there was a pretty decent amount of crap on the top of my intakes. i conferred with a couple other workers at the shop and they all said it was sh*tty gas. when i ut it back together i used nothing but chevron w/ techron or occasionally circle k (which is union 76 gas i believe) and when i broke the heads down this time there was almost nothing on the valves.

James, It was not directed at you, and mayne a little overboard, but read the rest, you know, the 'making money' and 'retired' parts. The proof is in my garage.

I know. Just wanted to give you a hard time!I saw the context of your post right away, but I could not let a chance like that get by me without making the most of it...

That is why I "edited" you post to include only the most audacious (stole that word from Valley Firearms) parts. Nothing like loosing total context by virtue of crafty edditing, they do it on the news all the time.

Take care Jim!

coming back to the topic...we have different brand names, but same system of majors v discounters.

Funnily enough, Shell fuel has a poor reputation despite being more expensive. My dd drops 3 mpg on their premium fuel over BP premium, yet its sposed to come out of the same place according to a guy i work with who spent the last 10 years in the fuel industry????

the other theory is while the stuff comes from the same placethe difference is the discount chains buy cheaper by taking the end runs from storage. hence more crap in the fuel and often lower octane than stated. that's the rumor anyway.
