You could also try White Rouge ( it's a buffing compound) on cotton buffing wheelwith an electric drill.

I have a two-wheel buffer with medium and soft wheels as well as white and red rouge, respectively, but haven't tried it on stainless. Maybe I'll do a test run on a butter knife.

stainless is just like alum you can polish it so it shines like chrome but to me stainless stays polished longer.something to think about after you shine them up try some zoop seal on it. zoop seal will keep it nice and shiney for 6 months to a year after that a light polish and re zoop seal it.

I just started polishing my trim last night. The scratches I hit with wet sandpaper 1000 then 1200 then 1500 grit. Then took it to the polishing wheel for a shot with Tripoli compoind followed by white rouge. They look pretty stellar if you ask me.

And if they're just superficial scratches you shouldn't need to use sandpaper, just use the Tripoli and then the White Rouge on a buffing wheel.

+1, I had a few scratches that were deeper and needed a little more attention. No sandpaper on most of it.

Deep scratches will have to be sanded. Use a DA sander. If theres any dints or dings, you can hammer them back out. Be careful as not to over do it. Make sure you have something heavy behind the piece when you tap out the dent. An Anvil of heavy Vise thatis mounted works good.Take your time.Oncethe dent is removed, sand with a DA. I have started with 280 with light pressure on very deep scratches. the deeper the scratch, the more pressure you will need. Then 400, 800, and 1000. After you have sanded and finished up with the 1000 (or higher), it will only take a couple of passes under the buffer (2 wheel high speed floor mounted). Start with the Black and then finish with the white rouge (cleaning the wheel often with anold screwdriver). Careful not to loose a finger. Wear leather gloves and a mask and eye protection.
