Glad you got so much done!!!!! That's great!

In my post, I said I was gonna test drive my 3 cars... Well, is 1 out of 3 bad? Only the Prowler was actually fixed. [&o] The '68 vert, well...the thermostat made a difference, but not all the difference. I think the radiator might be clogged as well.

The '66 Vette...in a sick and twisted way, I think what happened is kinda funny. The float was only partially sunk and I'd chased proper adjustment until the float sank completely. That car ran great when I left the garage and by the time I got back I could barely keep it running. Guess I'm off to the speed shop next chance I get. I already looked through my spare carbs and I've got nothing compatible.

As I pulled out of the garage, my neighbor showed up with some of his friends. I didn't see them at first because the car's kind of a handful in reverse. When I shifted into first and looked up, there were 4 guys, mouths open, staring. I just laughed and waved as I headed past. I don't think they'd ever seen both a girl and a big block Corvette at the same time. That was great. No thumbs up/"nice car" necessary.
So what do you do?? I have been trying to figure out how you ended up with all of those great cars.. Where do you work? Or who died and left you all those beautiful cars..
(hopefully no one actually died)

I write novels, edit video, help teach a stunt driving class and I just got a little job as a test driver for Roush. I've never been good at steady employment so I do lots of small/short term projects. My husband owns an interactive advertising agency and I sometimes work for him, too.

We got all these cars when the getting happened to be good. It's not like we've got tons of money, we were just really, really lucky! (Overheard husband on the phone: "What? A running driving midyear Vette for that price? Sold. I'll Paypal a deposit right now while I'm on the phone with you.")(Dad on the phone when I was 19: "You have a '68 fastback? 289? It runs? You're asking 3? We'll come right down and take a look at it now.")

I was having a really hard time getting motivated enough to wash Ol' Yeller today, and thank God it rained most of the day.

After about a year or more working on my fastback every day thatI could at my friends body shop, once the car was painted and back home I just couldn't find the incentive to work on it. That was last fall. I've tinkered around a bit on itbut I knew the engine had to come back out to change headers so I kept putting it off. Finally yesterday after seeing another fastback on here with the 427 Tunnel Port it hit me that I had to get going again. I spent all afternoon getting the engine ready to pull and I should finish today if I can find a load leveler for my engine hoist. Once that crappy job is done it will be easier to finish the rest of the car. I guess all I needed was to see that other car done and looking so good. Wish me luck.

Cool, test driving for Roush, that's got to be one of the best jobs ever!

I have been pretty lazy lately too.. Since the engine is out and sitting in front of the car, I just started cleaning up the engine bay,, and there is probably 38 years worth of grime on the frame railsand steering parts that I have been scraping and brushing off,, and I need to pull the power cylinder for a rebuild and drop brackett but like I said ,, Im lazy, especially since the engine isnt going back in until around October..

I am just like JMD. I am having a hard time getting motivated today. 90 degree weather. Rain. Seems like the last 5 days, nothing has gone right. Maybe it is time to take a few daysoff.

That's funny you say that. When I was having some troubles with the engine I told her, "if you're any kind of wife you'll get on the phone to those Overhaulin' guys and get this fixed." Just when I was starting to lose motivation, I sent it to the shop for body and paint. My greenbacks will be their motivation.
