i have a 70 mustang, 5.0 with factory air. i live in az. where temps are getting to 120 degrees. i recently put a new 4 row radiator and upgraded to a all 134 ac system. the problem is that, when its 120 out, my temp is getting up to 3/4 mark, and if i get stuck at a light it creeps up between 3/4 and high. im still running the stock flex fan that came with the car and im looking at the spal #30102120 that puts out 2300 cfm. so im trying to find out if some one knows what the stock fan cfm is, thanks.

 

The stock CFM has never really been measured, that I know of (or several friends) but it is much higher than an electric fan. The thing is though, an electric fan will cool your engine better while you are stopped. Go with electric

 

well that what im trying to find out, what the comparison would be for cfm stopped at a light. i know that the fan i have is the stock 5 blade flex fan. i know that while cruising the air flowing through the radiator would be more than the electric fan would be putting, at least i think so.

 

It's worth a shot. Worst case is you invest 150 bucks, it doesn't work, and you sell it on Ebay.... I've got that same fan and it moves a lot of air...but I don't live in AZ either...

 

you have the same spal fan. did you notice if it put out more volume at idle than the stock fan.

 

Do you have a shroud? Just to clarify, the stock fan was rigid, not a flex fan.

 

i have a shroud. and its a factory flex, kinda a really stiff flex.

 

well if ur if it over heating and ur like on a freeway or something run your heater if u can stand the heat and it will cool your engine down i had to do that will my moms old mercades in LA

 

ok. next time my wife is driving to work in the afternoon and its hitting 125 degrees outside ill tell her to turn off the air conditioning and turn the heater on. yeah that will make her happy. but i do know what your talking about. if your driving in high temps and you have turned the air off and its still getting hot, you can flip the heater on, although with temps outside of 120 and better i would think a person would end up with heat stroke, i guess thats one way of cooling down.

 

ya its not fun to do but it works we had to drive from vegas to LA witht he heater on the almost the whole time not ffun at all
