Default Project Fastback

hey guys i have this nasty idea i have this old fastback sitting in my uncles garage in naples and i was wondering maybe doing something never done to a mustangmake it into a mid engine rear drive monster i was thinking of mounting a heafty V8 or V10 from ford racing directly in the mid rear of the car to improve weight distribution and traction on the rear wheels seeing as muscle cars tend to all be rwd and have traction and weight distribution problems use shelby side air ducts and run them empty so air hits the carbs any more ideas ? help me out i wana see this happen

rb26dett is a dohc inline6 2.6 litter twin turbo fuel injetied awd 2568cc 280hp at6800rpm there was 2 different ones one made 260 foot pounds at 4400rpm ther was 289 foot pounds at 4400rpm bore: 86.0mm, stroke: 73.7mm came in the r32 r33 r34 nissan skyline. i had a rb25det its little brother in a nisan 240sx was a waste of money wish i used a ls1 insted. something to compair that skyline to is a newer v6 mustang close to the same weight and power.honestly forget a v10 youll have to cut the car in half to get one in it for that price you can have one nasty smallblock. look up a world man o war 460 its a 460ci small block 600hp get it low compression put a blower on it push 900hp or more depending the blower and tune.

I once had that thought. After looking at a couple of GT 40's and GT's, Pantara's, this one maybe tough on a long nose Mustang. Room is going to be an issue, I think. It would score off the scale on the cool factor though. I love the idea. Does anyone know if this has been done?

I once considered putting a SHO sideways engine and trans axle in my Mustang because it would pretty much fit in the rear passenger area. The SHO I was driving was pretty quick but was a big 4 door. I figured weight was not much different but a mid engine Mustang would be cool and handle great. My cousin built a V8 mid-engine 66 Courvair and it was wicked! I say keep looking into your options. I read a long time ago about a mid engine 69 or 70 Boss 429, I'll see if I can find the article. I think it was built by Kar Kraft to test whether they could build a mid-engine Mustang.

Actually, the Corvair was/is a rear engine car. The Porsche 914 is an example of a mid engine car.
