Default temp sensor loacation

im getting a spal electric fan next week with the adjustable box and a spal temp sensor. im thinking of putting the spal sensor in the plugged hole in the top of the thermostat housing. that way i can keep my original temp sensor in the stock location on the intake manifold. any thought on using this location for the spal sensor.

That is what I would (will) do.

To me it seems to be perfect location.

If you've got a plugged hole there that you can just open and install... that should be fine. Depending on the intake manifold, you may have other 1/2 npt fitting locations existing. I'd use one of them before removing the thermostat housing and drilling if there's not already a threaded hole there.

the only other port on the intake is for the heater hose, which is hooked up. the stock thermostat housing already has a allen head screwed in plug. i tried removing it when i wanted to put in mech. temp gauge, no luck, its aluminum and i think the screwed in plug is aliminum. any i went to checker and bought a new cast iron housing with the same screw in plug, not installed, so ill swap out the housing, hell it was only $6.00.

I bought a thermostat housing a few months ago, and the damn thing was made in China. BUT.....it had the plug you could remove to put in a water temp gauge. They are available.
