Default RSTMOD INTERIOR PAINT QUESTION

67 coupe

Interior paint question for all you mod guys. Should I keep the factory texture or should I sand it away and make it look smooth as glass? The color is a burnt orange. (sunburst II) The car has many minor mods like a color matching roll bar which takes away the "original effect". Pros and Cons please

Rather than sanding, fill it in with a skim coat of bondo for the same look. This way, if you or the next guy want to go back to the grain, it's somewhat of a reversable fix by either lightly blasting or acid dipping (door removal required, of course).

To my surprise, the texture is actually ingrained into the metal itself. I suppose it could be sanded away but it would be a huge process. Another way to make it disapear would be to fill the texture with primer by applying primer, sanding, and reapplying primer, sanding, etc.

I kind of like the texture and we have left it in place on my son's car.

Using the prime and sand method, the texture could be easillybrought back by chemically striping the panells.
