why are the steering wheels for the classic mustangs so high?

The simple answer is 'because they can'. The economic laws of supply and demand coupled with recouping the tooling and mold costs plus profit and overhead dictate the minimum from the manufacturer. The distributor of the product adds his costs, about the same as the manufacturer then the seller gets into the loop. The question is really 'why is it so cheap'?
