Need some direction-power steering pump
4 quick questions
I have never changed one-it looks pretty straight forward, but is there a order to unhook the hoses?(1)
Is it going to be a mess with fluid going everywhere?(2)
I have a 66 with a 289.
I am also going to take off a AC bracket that is not being used (my car has no AC and no compressor).A guy at a show gave me a "spacer" to fill the gap that the bracket takes up,but he has a 68 and is not sure if it is the same size. When I hold it against the bracket it looks like the same thickness but it is a little hard to tell. Does anyone no the thickness of the correct spacer?(3)
Also would a Pep Boys/Auto Zone have the high and low pressure hoses for a 66? (4)...or is something I need to order.
thanks Scott
also does a 66 have the real big mouth/opening on the pump to pour the fluid in? Mine is a small opening.

Which hoses, the ones from the pump?
Spills - yes - be prepared to get oil every where. Get some absorbent at you local auto parts store.
Parts - no - most auto parts stores don't stock parts back that far or even have a listing for 66 and earlier.
In filling - what you see is what you get.
Spacer- I'll look.

On my 65 with a 64P/S pumpand brackets - no spacer is used. With A/C without P/S you need the spacer.
On my 66 with a 67 P/S pump and brackets - no spacer is used. With A/C without P/S you need the spacer.
See if that works for you.
