Leaf springs
Just removed my differential assembly and springs. I read the previous post on here about springs and answered one of my questions about why one set was taller in arc than the other. Now I have a new question. What does reverse eye, middle eye... that so many of you were referring to?
I am thinking of replacing my original springs with a new set and probably will go with an original spring type, size, rate, whatever its called. But the post responses on these terms, reverse eye, middle eye have me confused. What is it referring to, how can u change it, and what does the change do?
Thanks

The eye of the leaf spring is where the spring bolts up to the car. There is standard eye that came on your car from the factory, there is mid eye that lowers you car some then there is reverse eye which lowers your car even more. The restomodders on here lower their rear and front ends to get a more aggressive look, and to improve handling. I put standard eye leaves on mine to retain the stock factory look.
Typically a mid-eye lowers the car about 1" and a reverse eye is anywhere from 1.5-2" Depending on how much your car may have been sagging from worn springs a mid-eye may have your car at the same height it was, only it willbe stiffer. Remember that lowering the car will help some with handling(though stock height and good suspension will make it handle very well too) but the lower you are the less ground clearance you have so you'll bottom more on speed bumps and pot holes etc. Some people will leave the rear at stock height and just lower the front, to give the car a more level look, since the factory look tends to have the rear sitting lower
