Default all lights pulsating

Hi i have a 66 coupe, and i have a bit of a problem, and have no idea why its happening. when i turn on the lights at night, for some reason my lights start to pulsate, and i mean all of the lights, console, interior, headlights, its freaking weird, but this only happens when the car is on, once i turn the car off, the pulsating stops. I have a feeling its a missed connection or maybe something touching something, or something needs a ground. Appreciate the help.

bad diode in the alternator. Diode is a directional flow gate, if those start to go you will get a pulsing like what you're describing. Get a kit and either replace the diode set or get a new alternator.

Yeah, forgot about those on the older alternators (being external).

You could also get a cheap voltage regulator and check the volrage on the back side of the alternator it should be constant. If it's a moving target then the regulator is a likelly canidate.
