Why would having the belt below your shoulder cause downward pressure? I have a very good understanding of physics and I see trauma injuries all the time, and I can't find many real life situations where your back would be compressed.

In a wreck, you create force against your belt while it stays in place. The belt does not rachet down and pull on you. It simiply provides a counter forceopposite of what you do to it.So in most wrecks, you would push forward and it would provide an equal force back in the opposite direction, which is backwards (not down). The only way it will pull down and compress you is if you landed on the roof or if you hit a REALLY big bump in the road. For most wrecks, it shouldn't matter if it's high, low, or sideways or what.

Here is what I did. I don't mind the looks of it either. I really need to mount the inertia reel to the floor though.

I assume you can wiggle past the 'dangling' belts to the rear seat, or is it just a place to keep the cooler?

I'll never have to sit in the back seat But yes my friends make it back there pretty easily. I can't put more than 1 person back there otherwise my damn fenderlips cut the tires to shreds! But I just found out a buddy has one of those Eastwood fender roller tools so I'm going to do that soon.

From what I have been told by several knowledgable people, this is the proper way to insatll seatbelts in a 66 fastback with headrests. Not only is this setup very strong but it also stops the body in the correct positon.

That's the way JamesW did his. On the otherhand, highhiller claims thatthe Fastback roof is not as strong as a hardtop's.I chose to not do that to any of my Fastbacks, I prefer to keep them original.
