From the inside face (where the inside of the wheel meets the brake drum) to the inside lip of the wheel... I would expect it to be 3 3/4" if it's a 14x7 wheel.

In the photo below, a tool called a 'WheelRite' is used to measure for possible wheel backspacing. When set for 4" You can see how close it comes to hitting the UCA. On a 14" wheel, figure moving that arm down 1"... see how close the tire would be. That's why 3.75 is usually the size used on 14x7s.

Ooo, lots of neat toys. In any case, I do not recomend a spacer. They have a habit of doing nasty things to cars.

Blue, the kit I got from laurel came with..

Rear suspension:
5 Leaf Mid-eye Springs
KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks
3/4" Anti-sway bar
Shackles, brackets, hardware, and bushings

Front suspension:
620lb. Lowering Springs
KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks
Spring saddles
1" Anti-sway bar
UCA’s & LCA’s
New brackets, hardware, and bushings

Also your choice of monte carlo bar or export brace in which I got the export brace.
This also doesn't include the 7 steering parts.

sweet thanks...I think that is exactly what I need. gonna go with different rear leafs to a lift, not a drop due to my differential being too wide. Think it will give the same effect as my shackles, without the shackles....hopefully.

Yes, get rid of those nasty shackles. When I got it, upgrading front and rear springs was only an extra 85 bucks which is worth it to me, but the original setup would be cheaper. What kind of diff. do you have under there? I would go with original springs before a lift spring, but if it rubs sounds like you have no other choice...

Also, where do you live? If you get this shipped its going to be alot. Consider asking the rearest mustang vendor from your location if they would offer the same kit. The parts are all the same and interchanged between distributors. Even though I got my kit from luarel, the wrappers and bags had 3 other names on them...

not sure what diffirential I have actually. Pretty sure it is from a '67 (from what I have been told by other forum members) so the wheels stick out. I would feel more comfortable with the lift. Unfortunately, I have decided to just buy the pieces. Going to get the $250 or so front suspension kit and some springs to go along with the brake upgrade so I don't blow the bank. Then the rear suspension. Then the sway bars. I can only install so much at a time anyway, and I would rather pay a little over the long run than put it on a credit card and pay those bastards interest. Thanks for all the advice, it has been a huge help.

I sure hope you don't spend all your money on suspension replacement, only to find out your wheels/tires still won't fit.

You may want to nail this clearance issue down first, as wheels & tires cost a lot of cabbage.

true, now that I got the starter replaced, I am going to drive her to work tomorrow and pay attention to what is going on. Might actually go and try to measure the backspacing again.

BTDT and only lost $400 or so on the resale. Some lessons in life aren't free ... or cheap.

tried to measure it again...it sure looks around 3.75" or 4". Still doing it the half *** way though. I will see what it feels like tomorrow.
