Won't start when hot

Yes you are heat soaking your starter. I would recommend either wrapping our headers or putting a heatshield on your starter. Should take are of your problem.

Today wasmy first real drive in the mustang, and it drove ok,but when I stopped to get gas, I couldn't get it to start back. It acted like it was a dead battery, but after waiting about 20 min, iot cranked again (I did have jumper cables attached to it though). Once I got to my destination, after I turned it off, I checked to see if it would start again, and it woulnd't. Again, it sounded as if the battery was low, the engine was barley turning over. When I came back about 10 min later, it sounded better, but still wouldn't start, and then about 2 hours later, it started just fine. My car does have long headers. Could they be overheating my starter?

Same thing happened to my cousin's GTO. I wrapped the headers and it was good to go.

I used this stuff...

It wasn't fun, but it did the trick.
Oh and the headers were ceramic coated.

As soon as I get the chance I'll wrap the headers, or just go to the junkyard and rip some heatsheilding from somewhere. I'm really busy right now. the clutch cable on my Saab 900 broke, so I have to put a new one on (right now my mustang is my daily driver, not good) . I have to pack for college, tomorrow I have a concert, and thursday I leave to go on a 2 week trip to Michigan, and then when I get back, I leave the next day for Auburn.
I had the same problem on my new 351w. Started find when cold but wouldn't start when warm. I run about 14 degrees inital and 38 total.I got a high torque starter and the problem is no more. Temp stays at 190 come hell or high water.
