I think I will be aiming for a glove compartment installation, that and I will definitely look into getting kick panel speakers.

Hey Kradzz,
I have logged over 20,000 hours under the dash in my last 15 years as an installer. The project will not be bad...relax. You said that this car gets you to school? In my opinion hide averything you can. About a third of my customers have been there to replace thier stolen equipment. Remember that the origional audio system was common ground...so if that has not yet been changed..some rewireing will be necessary. I have never been a fan of butt connectors or the sort. It's just me. If a customer had to come back because I was lazy enough to use one...I lose money. Solder everywhere you can. This is a bit hard in older cars as the wire was not oxygen free and has tarnished a little...solder doesn't like it unless your carefull. The underdash console is great in this application if theft is not an issue. Kick panels are a better choice for speaker location as it will not create a seperation and phase issue.

I'm in a pretty nice school, most we have ever had stolen was some kids wallet out of his pants in gym, we don't have vehicular thefts around here so I am ok on that front. About the wiring, a buddy of mine from school also suggested the same thing and will be coming over to lend a hand. The previous owner already made cutouts for 6x9 speakers in the back or I would just go with the kick panels alone.

What radio is in it...factory? what year? Are you just wanting to add an add on sat. piece or new head unit?

It has the original radio still installed, it looks nice but is not functional in the least, and all speakers have been removed from the car. I kept the original radio in there and touched it up to keep the look but I am hoping to get sat radio just because FM radio around here is the dregs.

Then dont worry about the wiring...you will have to change it. New speaker wires will have to be ran to the rear. And the only point your going to touch the mustangs wires are the constant and ignition (acc.) points. Unplug factory radio and use power there if you want. Easy project. Remember the sat ant cannot see through metal. You will need to get it outside the car. Decklid is the best place on mustangs...flat surface and large grounding plane.
