its funny to read all of these responces....it turns out we are not die-hard ford men but we are die-hard chevy haters....if it said 350 c*m*ro we would all be bashing you for even bringing up such an absurd question.

but as blackLX said...if its a genuine GT390...Steve McQueen here we come.
How many 4 spd ones of those were made?
Werent most of them the GTA (A for auto)???
I don't know where some of you guys are coming from that a 69 Road Runner is rarer than a fastback Mustang. Production numbers were almost double for the Road Runner. Out of all the Mustangs only 17,000 (5%) were GT's.
If the Road Runner was originally a 440 car I might consider it otherwise the GT "S" code Mustang will eventually carry better resale value in my humble opinion. I would also question why the RR is so cheap.
GTA Mustangs were only made in 1967. All 68's whether stick or auto were GT's.
Still I would offer much less for the Mustang shell

^The RR is so cheap because it needs ground up restoration. The fastback is a complete car but is a rolling chasis. The RR needs interior, motor, tranny, dash, all the mechanical things need to be done. Im guessing im going buy the car tommorow and start on it maybe in december. I have a 68 Stang which is 50% done. Hopefully parts will cost me less than $30000.
I'm a Mustang man till the day I die, but in this case, considering the huge price differences, especially the cheap price tag for the running bird, I'd go for the beep beep as well.

It is a well proven scientific fact that people who drive Mopars are in league with Satan.
Go for the fastback

I had no idea that I was a devil worshipper...???
Obviously by my signature I'd snap up both cars but that is just me. (Actually I'd get the Mustang and make it just what you want - Most of the Mopar guys that I know are into numbers matching resto's and I like to do with my cars what I want.) Plus Mopar parts can get very pricey and you will need some speciality tools to dis-assemble the RoadRunner - you can take apart the Mustang without anything special except the spring compressor.
in the long run i feel that the mopar will bring more money if you do the restoration right, now no one jump in my *** about it but it is the truth they are rarer
Those beep beep parts can be purchased, but at a very expensive price as compared to the same part for a GT mustang. In the long run 20 years from now, the owner of the Mopar will have spent double the amount of money to keep that car running compared to the Mustang owner. Both cars will be worth about the same, but the owner of the Mustang will have 1/2 the amount of money invested. Now, that's my prediction, based on nothing more than a gut feeling and the availability of parts for each car after an internet research.
