Hello, even though the roadrunner is much cheaper I would go for the '68 fastback. Thats just my humble opinion,as I am a absolute mustang freak. Either way, have fun on your new project!

i would look into the roadrunner for sure! the only thing about mopars of that year is that the rear half of the frame rots out and is a beotch to repalce so look at them closely! see how much rust is on them and then spend some time figuring out which one will take less money and time.

Rarer to whom?? Rarer to people that would have interest in buying a classic muscle car, that's who. The general public that doesn't know what a Roadrunner is would not be interested in buying either car!
Buy the Roadrunner.

+1, compare the Blue Book values on the two. It's easy to see that the Roadrunner is more valuable, especially when restored. That plus the fact that the SMALLEST engine available in a RR was a 383 would seal it for me.

It is a well proven scientific fact that people who drive Mopars are in league with Satan.

Go for the fastback

I am not a Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge guy, but for the difference in price, and for the potential resale value, I will have to say that the Roadrunner is a better deal, with the potential for a huge payoff.

Fix the Roadrunner, sell it, and buy a few Mustangs with the profit!

Why is the RR so cheap?? Someone mentioned the a$$ rotting off of them. Why is the rolling stang so expensive?? Talk the guy with the mustang down, buy it.

I would try to do a true comparisons.. How much each is worth restored? How much to get it there body, running gear, etc? also what do you want long term.... it will take a long while to get it done right...

Roadrunner hands down. Awesome car with an awesome history. The Mustang obviously has a cooler history but the Roadrunner is something you don't see every day.

What is missing is what is in the 68 Fastback? Engine? Transmission? The comparison of a 383 Road Runner to a generic 68 is one sided.
