new to old
it can be done but its alot of work and money if you use a weld in mustang 2 kit the car will handle like a log wagon.your looking to spend about 6k to get it in the car and runing plus the price of the engine tranny wiring harness ecu. look at worlds crate engines anything ford small block will fit.there 460 man o war is a 351w based block 600hp 575foot pounds or have a stock 4.6 that dont make half that power its up to you.id pass on a 96 one they had the most recalls of any of the mod motors.unless you like a huge wiring headache lots of welding making parts and using cats then pass on that idea.

Because it would be challenging and you'd end up with something a little different than the average stroker engine in your car. At least, that's why I would consider doing it.

im still not sure why someone would want to put a 4.6 in a 66 when it would be easier to get a 351, stroke it out to a 408, do a little trimming to the shock towers and in the end have a lot more power than that 4.6. probably will end up costing less also.
remember there is no replacement for displacement

Soaring, I think that you have failed realize that for many of us who "modify" it is not about "changing" our cars, but rather the challenge of making two things that were not designed to work together function together as if they had been originally designed that way. With the correct fabrication skills such a modification can be made with out spindling tones of money. I have nothing against those that rebuild what they have, but I like a challenge.

Would you consider putting in a Nissan engine in your Mustang? You sound as if you would. They are wickedly fast and will get you plenty of tickets for speeding. How about putting a VK Nissan engine series V8 4.5L Titan VKJ6DE 340 horses in that little Mustang uni body constructed body? It would definitely be challenging, and since you like challenges, go for it and tell us how it came out several years from now.

What an odd question. No, I would not put a Nissan engine in my Mustang. I'd rather put the American V8 into the import car, not the other way around. In fact, I wouldn't put a modular engine in my Mustang either. But I have (briefly) considered it.
I think Ford built a great car when they built my 69 Mustang. However, I think I can take advantage of almost 40 years of technological progress to make it a little BETTER.

wanna be different use a diesel
wanna be different use a diesel

you can get a 460 diesel cheap they was used tell 96 in the f350.if i had to do my mustang over id go small block with the 32 valve push rod heads or a 806 big block.displacement is everything to me why replace a 289 with a 281 but if you really wanna do it look at http://www.martzchassis.net/page3.htm and http://www.dvsrestorations.com/
I think it would be a great project! Especially something like an 03 Cobra or 04 Mach 1 setup in a 66. A bit over my head though...as the suspension mods are out of my realm of hammer/drill/bolt capabilities.
Dave Stribling's "Men in Blac" project 67 car he did to showcase his shop's capabilities is awesome. One of the best examples I've ever seen of blending technologies seamlessly.
At the MustangSteve Birthdaybash yesterday, a beautiful 69 Shelby rolled in, popped the hood, and there lied a fuel injected 95 Lightning 5.8 motor....yeah baby..talk about pissing off the Shelbyophiles...
