I didnt hook up the vacume on the intaketo the brakes but that shouldnt affect the starting or am i wrong.
Well...that would normally constitute a vacuum leak. (unless you plugged the port in the intake anyway and the plug is tight)

I will have to ask the obligatory questions:

Did you pull the dizzy out at any point during the intake swap?
Did you pull any spark plug wires off at any point during the intake swap?
Are there any open vacuum ports on the carb? Could one of those caps have fallen off?

I figured out the problem i had the wires on distributer cap wrong they were one to the left off. I put them right and then turned the key it started right up no pumping the pedal or anything and it even sounds like a bout 35 ahhhh make that 45 more hp to my ear.
