Default 1970 wheel and horn assembly

Okay, I just bought a 1970 coupe, and love it. I need to fix the horn button assembly before I can get it registered. It currently has a wood wheel and the three spokes. It has a single round button in the middle with the mustang logo (Grant makes reproduction wheels just like it).

Now, the button came with the car, and it has a spring attached to the back of it. Other than that spring, the button is just hollow. The steering wheel is mounted, and has the wires hooked up, like normal.

There is a hard cardboard piece that is the final piece attached to the steering wheel, with no obvious attachment for this button to attach too. How does this button attach to the steering wheel, or that carboard piece??
