Default 66 mustang alternator problem?

i have a 66 mustang and just installed a vintage air air conditioner, but ive found that when i turn on the air i lose about 2 volts off my battery immidiately, i have to charge it every night to keep the battery running the next day. the original alternator is still in the car and running, could it be that i have to buy a new alternator that puts out more amps?

The factory Alt should be plenty big enough. Take it to autozone/sears/ etc..and check the alt output and voltage regulaor. i'll bet you'll find one of 'em bad.
