Default Clutch Pedal Squeak

I was driving today and noticed a small sqeak when I push the clutch pedal down. Throughout the day it got worse and I was wondering what I could do to get rid of it. It only squeaks when I push the pedal down and it doesn't matter whether the car is running or not, it still squeaks. It sounds kind of likea spring or something.

My brother just bought this clutch/brake anti-theft lock that prevents your brake or clutch from being pushed down. Maybe that thing caused something to loosen up on the clutch cause he was playing around with ityesterday to see if it held the clutch or brake more secure.

Is there something that needs to be lubed ortightened or anything? Anything would help.

Thanks

hang your head under the dash by the clutch area and lube up the return spring and pivot point...

There are two plastic horseshoe shaped 'insulators' (NPD 2007 pg 110 p/n 7A630-1 $3.95) used on the clutch return spring. When they get old, they squeek, then shatter. If and when you replace them, use a dab or two of white Lithium grease on the shaft and other moving surfaces. Consider replacing the bushings on the shaft too (NPD same page 7526-1 $1.75).

Do you know of anyone who makes a ball-bearing set-up for that spring? I'm going to convert the pedal bushing to bearing next month and since I'll have it all out...just thought if I could locate one for the spring it would be that much better.

All fine replies...But being a lazy guy I say;

If it's a small squeak- look for pieces, give it a squirt, and turn the stereo up.
