dash wiring question
I am changing out my wiring for a Ron Francis kit and want to run this by everyone. The first 3 things seemed pretty straightforward:
[ul][*]Ran wire from the fuse box to the"ignition voltage switch" on the back of the dash - it is the rectangle small box in the center of the dash, it also has a ground wire that I left in place[*]Then ran a wire from the opposite connector on this switch to the gas gauge and looped this to all of the otherguages[*]Then I ran the wire from each gauge to the measuring unit/device[/ul]
Now the question on the turn signals and the dash lights:
[ul][*]The dashlights wires collected into1 line that read "ignition"and ran to the fuse box in the old wiring. They don't give you any wiring for this in the kit so I looped this off gas gauge. OR I could take this line and connect it to the "headlights" wiring connection on the fuse panel??? What should I do here, does it matter (I was thinking to run it to the headlights guage so that it would only be on when the lights are on....... I will have to splice but will crimp and shrink wrap but the wire is in good shape).[*]There were wires forthe"high beam" and"turn signals" in the kit and I cut the wires about 6" from the bulb andused acrimping connector tosplice the 2 wires together. I then used some shrimk wrapon the outside of the wires. Do you think this will be sufficient?[/ul]
Attached is a picture of the back of the dash - I used machine screws w/star washers & crimped connectors to secure the new wires to the gauges (tried to get rid of as much of the old harness as possible). I made sure to crimp extra hard, tug hard and then use shrink wrapt to try and get it secure.
I would appreciate any thoughts/comments, thanks.

I'm not familiar with the Painful wiring harness... but for the dash lamps, you need to have them connected to the headlight reostat (switch) so you can adjust the brightness. There should already be a lead coming out of the headlight switch up to the dashlights. I can't remember if it goes back through the fuse box first or not. Seems like it did not.. Find that one and splice in.
good deal, I'll look for this one and won't jumper this - it wasn't making sense when I was doing it so thanks for the clarification. did you use the original dash light holders w/bulb?
