Default Dwell meter Basics...

Question.
I just bought my first dwell meter, I had a chance to hook it up. One clamp to the poistive and the other on the igintion coil and got a reading. I then took off the vaccum hose attached to the distributer. The need was not even close on the green side. Is my engine not right? I drive it daily and it seems ok... does not die and no over heating...

Sorry, just a basic person with mechanics here! Love learning though
Thanks!

The hose that goes to the distributor is not a good choice to check your vacuum. It is a "timed port" which basicly means that it will not read properly at idle....

Fid a different hose to hook to, just about any other will do fine...
