flywheel balanced

Default flywheel balanced

what is it when you get the flywheel balanced... how do you do this or how do you know that you have to do this.. just wondering because im about to bolt my trany up to my motor

if its my car i always replace the flywheel with the clutch. if your just replacing the clutch have the flywheel machined and blanced.

Yeah, just take it to a machine shop to get it balanced. That way you can rest assured that if you have a vibration problem that it is not the flywheel.

It is actually not a balancing but rather making sure the imbalance is right. The crank chaft and rotating assembly of your engine is not balanced. To compensate for this, the harmonic balancer and flywheel are imbalanced ususally with 28oz or 50oz depending on your engine setup. This allows the whole rotating assembly to be balanced and idealy prevent harmonic vibration. All that being said, I would just buy a new flywheel with the correct balance. A nice iron one is only 200bux. You'll probably pay that getting your flywheel worked on and you still need to have it resurfaced.
