Same mounting holes - but -
Add:
New speedometer cable.
New hole in firewall for speedometer cable (not sure - required on a 64-66).
Shifter plate.

I made the switch from C4 to Toploader and did not need: new speedo cable, new hole in firewall & there is no shifter plate (bolts right onto tranny).
The manual transmission speedometer cable is about four inches longer than the C4 type so you did a routing which leads to - 'kink city' (kinky is good - but not here). To accomodate the longer cable, the factory (remember them) punched a different hole in the firewall (Doh, what do they know) to accomodate the re-routing.
The shifter plate is the one that goes over the shifter boot (damn, forgot the top bootand the bottom dust boot - add those to the list).

I have driven about 10k miles since I made the conversion and there is no "kinking" problem. David Kee is the one who told me to re-use the same speedo cable (Doh, what does he know?).

I was confused on what u meant by shifter plate, I thought you meant shifter mounting plate.

He will also need a new speedometer gear for a accurate reading.

Love these quotes. I have no idea who David Kee is so if you use his input - so be it. To correct my last, the 67 body style uses the same access hole for all speedometers cables routed thru the firewall. In 64 to 66, Ford did it different for 4 speed MT's and 3 speed MT's and C4 transmissions. The 4 speed cable is longer because the speedometer output is on the right hand side of the transmission while the 3 speed and C4 outputs are on the left. So, in the real world, an automatic speedometer cable used on a 4 speed is gonna be 'stretched'.

What year car are we talking about? On my 65, I did not need some of the things listed here ie. used the same driveshaft without needing to alter it in any way.
I was thinking T-5 when I noted the driveshaft change.

As for cost.... well, this modification can be range from $500 to $3000. The first time I did this, I found a guy parting out a '90 in good shape and got everything from flywheel back to the driveshaft for $500. Ended up doing the whole mod for about $1000. That was with a lot of fabrication and personal labor.

ahhh I wanna do the swap too, but its so damn expensive!! im thinkin about just throwin a hurst quarter stick ratchet shifter into my car[]
ive seen these types of shifters, but how exactly do they work, whats the benifits and negatives, how much does the conversion costs. etc. any insight would be greatly appreciated.
