Umm the windsor came with 290hp from the factory with the 4barrel carb. So I think just upgrading your intake and exhaust system would put you in your range quite easily.

Thanks for all the good info. In response to your comments about the spark plugs. All the information I have read said that a351W fits right in to the 67. I have heard about the nightmare of the 65-66 351W upgrade and having to get custom headers, can't reach the spark plugs etc. Have I been misled?

No, if you get GT40 P heads you need special headers, the plug angle on the P heads is different. It won't take much to get 350hp out of that thing, but I'd put a newer cam in it, the newer cam designs make better power with better streetability. It'll just run nicer basically. But yeah, you can build a simple setup and get that sorta power easily

Ok, I am so terribly busy at work tonight I went through Summit Racing's website and came up with some things I think I may want but definitely don't need. Can any of you guys see a problem with the following setup? pros? cons? better alternatives?

Crankshaft- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=ESP-103513850
Pistons- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=STL-H336CP30
Cam and Lifters-
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=SUM-K4400
Connecting Rods- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=SCA-25955912
Heads- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=EDL-77189
Rocker arms- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=CSP-S4102
Intake manifold- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...?part=EDL-7181
Carburetor- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=HLY-0-80457S
Timing Chain and gears- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...rt=SUM-G6620-B
Headers- http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=HED-88650

Anyone want to take a guess at what kind of horsepower the windsor would have with these parts? Is it too much for what I want? I know you guys know your stuff so let me have it. I appreciate your help!

It'll fit just fine. I have a 67 with a 408W. And get long tube headers.... much better for the amount of exhaust that motor will be moving.

As SuperDavid said, it'll fit just fine. My dad and myself built most of a 351w awhile back and put her in the car real easy. The earlier years do need alot of modification though.

I have an Edelbrock Torker II intake for a 351 sitting in my basement if your interested...

+1,,, that was the answer I was going to give,,, It ain't goint to take much to get 325 HP from a 351.... I would think about a mild performance or "RV" cam too,, just for a little rumpity rump...

Save your $$,,, you don't need to spent a lot on your 351,,, they are strong enough stock to make 350 HP all day long without issues...

ok heres what i see

crankshaft: get yours reground. it'll save you ALOT of money and the stock ones are 50x stronger than what you need
pistons: good choice
cam and lifters: way too small,
connecting rods: your stock rods are plenty strong enough, but they could use a set of ARP bolts which your local shop would install and the recondition the rods (still way cheaper than getting those)
heads: way overkill. as stated all you would need are gt40's to get you there, those gt40P's would cut your cost in half (the edelbrocks are sold individually). if your really wanting aftermarket those are too big anyhow.
rocker arms: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku (these are over 100.00 cheaper and are excellent quality - i've used / will be using them again myself)
intake: perfect
timing chain: all you need is a quality cloyes double roller, http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku (cheaper than the other one, which is overkill)
headers: long tube > shorties, and this is one area where its worth the extra to get ceramic coated for more money. they wont rust out on you right away like painted headers will and they will look 100x better for years to come.
