It's amazing. I didn't have to cut a single bolt. and didn't have a problem with any of them coming out. I did have to replace a few that wouldn't thread back on and didn't come with the new parts but it's all good. and the leafs are the standard 4 leaf. and 620 springs in the front. the kit says the front will sit one inch lower in the front but I'm thinking overall the whole car should sit higher.

Is there any tricks or techniques that I need to know about, or is it just take the old out and in with the new??

Did you get the full rebuild kit that comes with the steering components also? I am getting the whole thing cuz mine is shot. Car drives pretty bad.

Hope you are not reusing those coil over shocks in the back, they will blow through your floor eventually. And you are right about the 620 coils. Although they are 1 inch lower than stock, they usually result in a higher stance than the old worn out springs. If it is to high you can always cut out a quarter of one of the spring loops.

Not really any tricks I can think of. I took four cans of liquid wrench and sprayed underneath my car a few days in advance on everything I was taking out. If you use the internal spring compressor like I did I will tell you that only using two claws seemed to work much better than trying to get all for to hook without sliding for some reason. If you do what I did and just remove everything don't forget the brake lines and to get them into proper working order after you are done. You will need something to remove the tie rod ends and ect. since I was going all new I just used one of those pickle fork/ball joint remover things from a parts store.

Oh when you go to take your springs out there is a apron thing over them on the inside of the wheel well, if possible remove that before you try to get the springs out. it gives you a ton more clearence. Shocks have to go in before you put the shock caps on the shock towers (I messed that one up haha) You will need a grease gun to grease some of the parts in the kit. Unlike me, keep track of all the bolts. bag em and leave the bag labeled by the side you took them off of. That is currently my biggest mistake so far. Have a partner help. Even if they don't know how to work on cars an extra pair of hands for some items will make the task so much easier. Especially if you are doing the sway bar. Last is it's going to get messy, try having cardboard all over underneath that car if you don't want it all over the floor.

I did get the super restoration kit which had front and rear suspension steering and interior pieces. interior is going to be done another day.

Where did you get your kit and how much did it cost? I also need to do almost everything you have done.

Larry.

I dont need the interior bits, so I am just getting the Super Starter Kit for 875 (unless they jacked up the prices since they sent the catalog). Thanks much for the info. I will be taking pics of everything I do so that I can get it back together

ORIGINAL: Jakaru

Just to replace the leafs and the shocks in the back. Took all of ten minutes so I'm not too worried about it.
Liar,liar.... pants on fire. It takes more time than that just to jack up the rear. Who in hell are you trying to kid?

ok ok 15 minutes not including jacking it up and putting jack stands on there. Besides that my back seats were allready out from something else I was doing. Bolts gave me no problem.

The instructions that come with the kit are pretty good, right?? This is gonna be my first complete suspension rebuild. Also, I climbed under the car today, and the front passenger brake line is almost broken in half. Guess it is a good thing that a complete brake overhaul is coming up soon.
