another leaf spring question, what is original?
My 67 coupe, 289 2bbl automatic 8 inch rear, had a set of springs that are comprised of 5 leafs. The one with the eye holes on each end, one thatends just short, about 1/4", from the above mentioned eye holes. and the other three progressively shorter by about 33% of the one above it. 5 spring leafs in all. I have seen many kits showing OEM springs as 4 leafs, and some 5 leaf 1 inch lowering leafs for stiffer ride.
Anyone out there have a set of 5 leaf springs? where does your second leaf end? Does it end just short of the eyes? Could it be these springs I have are the stiffer 5 leaf springs or maybe even from another Ford car?
Any info or help would be greatly aprreciated.
Thanks

Stock rear springs for all 64 to 70Mustangs used 4 leaf springs. Helper add-ons have been available thru the aftermarket,5 leaf types could be specially made and 5 leaf may have been used on other Ford products - station wagons, trucks, etc.

Ok so I actually counted mine and found out I just pulled a 3 leaf leaf spring from my drive side. Serously, how can it be 3? I didn't even hear that as an option.
