289 heads
Bull-puckey. There is no difference between two barrel and four barrel heads on a 289 CID engine. Compression ratios were determined by piston height, combustion chambers were the same, valves were the same, the heads were identical. Now, there were different combustion chambers for different years, but those heads were used interchangably for that years models.

if one was to be looking to buy some after market heads, how many CCs should they look for for a mild-moderately modded 289? (moderate cam, intake, carb, gears/posi?) i was lookin at some AFR heads and im not sure which CC to look for[:@] 165, 185, 205?
165 will be all you need in a 289. 185's would be better off in a similarly built 331 - 347, and 205's way too much for the little motor (can you say "lazy flow"?).

<~~~ owned by comp cams btw (180cc runners)http://www.compperformancegroupstore...egory_Code=SBF
and of course there is always the gt40p's from tristatecylinderhead for 600 bucks a pair which would flow excellent for your motor without being too big.
