A mini-spool replaces the spider gears in the diff and a full spool replaces the diff. Both will positively lock your two axles together (i.e. squealing tires, crappy handling, dangerous in wet conditions ... DON'T DO IT!!!).

A peg-leg is better at the dragstrip than a spool is in all-around driving.

I hope you're considering an overdrive to go with those3.80's (I haven't gone back to check for any recent tranny-related threads yet, but I think there might have been one). When gas was $0.219 instead of $3.219 and there weren't as many Interstate highways, this didn't seem to matter quite as much.

nope im using my c4 non od tranny. i dont do much highway driving in the 65, and in a few weeks i will be doing almost none with it. all side streets and what not (speed limits of no more than 50) so i should be alright.

I went with 3.89 gears with a dura grip dif from Yukon Gear behind a C6.

60 mph = 3000rpm

I drive on the highway every day, but I don't take the freeway.

I'm still trying to get the speedometer correct, but it looks like I am getting 15 mpg.

The rear end chatters a little on corners, but not bad. Locks up good.

If it's a street driven car you might wanna consider a high bias carbon friction clutch pack LSD, or a locker such as a Detroit or a Richmond Powertrax etc. I have a Powertrax in mine, locks the axles when you go straight or get on it, opens to full differentiation when you turn. It completely replaces the differential assembly(side and spider gears etc). A mini or full spool will be a pain in regular street driving, dragging tires around the corner, chirping and shuddering in parking lots etc, also will accelerate tire wear

Understand that any locker wants to either coast around turns or take them with the tail drifting slightly under enough throttle to put it out there.

They do not like tight turns under normal street driving levels of throttle, so you have to drive them a bit differently than you would a pegleg or limited slip of any sort. Instead of "in slow, out faster as the throttle is going down", you need to think "in slightly faster to make up for coast-down slowing, wait until you're straight, then power".

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...44476_-1_10153

The Jegs link is for the Powertrax and the Summit link has all the spools/lockers/LSDs they carry, just select your axle size, 8, 9, 8.8 etc and the locker or LSD you wanna look at
