by the way, you are absolutely correct, the switch doesn't provide anything other then continuity between the igition key and the starter relay on the fender.

Thanks a lot, this sounds like a serious option for me, I like it alot. And i do have a center console with a cigarette lighter which I doubt works that I can potentially use, as well as many other places that have come to mind. I'll go over it with my dad and see what he thinks! Thanks again!

Everyone else keep the idea coming, i'm open to anything!

Thanks for the link on the shifter andrew, I'll probably get it!

groho, or anyone, one more question. Say I did this RTO switch for the ignition, wouldn't someone still be able to start my car by connecting the terminals on the starter relay? Because I know you can do that normally, but this RTO switch would be bypassed if they connected these terminals, correct?

Correct. The switch's real name is a single pole, single throw, momentary switch. Radio Shack. And I would start and run a car that I wanted to steal by using a couple of jumpers under the hood. I would not be slowed down in any way.

Dang so that method will only work if they try to start the car from inside using a key for whatever reason. Unless I somehow managed to relocate my starter relay to a very unacessable place so they can't jump the terminals. Just a thought.

Maybe I'll just stick to a high tech alarm system with the locking shifter. But I still want something else!

Speaking of which. I just cleaned mine today. I have a right to carry and conceal license. My wife gets a little nervous when I have it in the seat next to me, but so far I have not had to use it. A big dog came up on the back porch a few days ago and threatened my wife, but by the time I could get the weapon out of it's case the dog was gone.
