one wire alt conversion
I've heard the one-wire alternater conversion is a simple swap that is supposed to make some noticable, seat of your pants, performance improvements in the ignition area, especially if you're running a pertronics, MSD, etc. Speaking to the folks that have made this alternator change, is this true? My factoryalternator/regulator setup on my '66 coupe, 289 workingfine. I'm just wondering ifit's worth it
from a performance perspective, or is it just a convenience. Also, what additional changes need to be made to thevolt meterin the dash to accomodate the change? How easy is it to pull out the old wiring for the voltage regurlator?

If you need more amps than what you currently have available, it's a solution. The main engine compt wire harness on my 66 would have to be altered to either stow the V Reg plug or cut it off and hide the wires in the loom. According to my cars wiring diagram, removalof the V reg will not affect the ammeter operation.
Thisis the one I got for my car. I left the voltage regulator in it's place, and just bypassed it. You do need to make sure the car does not idle under 1500 RPM for any long period of time or you will kill your battery.
