would it be wise to put a turbocharger on a 1972 mustang with a 351 cleveland

define wise...if you you don't want to spend money, then no! If you would like to spin the tires in any gear below 70mph, then Yes!

id spend the money and build a nasty 460 and c6 for it. if you try to turbo a engine thats not build to take it youll be walking soon.

Not anymore than anything else. Turbos are just another way to get more air into the motor. If it is mechanically sound, it's a perfect canidate. It's the easiest on motors of any form of artificially aspiration. People turbo stock motors all the time. it's the guys that get too greedy and try to make 600hp with a stock block that get into trouble.

As long as the boost isn't too high for the compression and fuel available, and you tune it right, it shouldn't be an issue. Just be careful if you have hypereutectic pistons, and get good brakes and suspension, you'll need to be able to put the power down, and still stop
