the shelby drop involves drilling new holes for the A-Arms and relocating them. It drops the front about 1/2".

Do you have any subframe connectors? that might be something to help stiffen it up.

Another option is NPD Street Bandit Handling kit. It makes a huge improvement in handling and a huge improvement in stance. I am very happy with mine and after adding 195 60 series tires up front the I had enough rake (3.5")that I could afford to add 1" lowering leaf springs in the rear. Now the tires fill up the all the gap in the wheel wells and it sits about 2" lower in the front than the rear and total ride height at roof line is about 3.5 to 4" lower than the stock setup. I also added Global west tubular strut rods and A arms I am very happy with the results.

Call NPD and ask about that kit....for 400.00 bucks its money well spent (you can also omit parts from the kit that you wont need like perhaps the shocks if the new ones you have are the same) At least call them and ask about it.

Good Luck

A spring shop can "re-arc" the springs for greater verticle lift. There is usually a spirng shop in major cities, they deal mostly with heavy trucks, but they will also usually work on cars as well.

It sounds like you already have a couple of good springs that you can have "repaired" while leaving the car in running condition.
I found a spring shop that will re-arc the springs for $125 He said he could add a leaf if needed.. Shame I didn't go that route before spending $130 on a new pair of springs. I also bought new bushings and a bolt kit for the front of the spring. Those two items weren't used, so at least I'll be able to recoup that money.

Doing the Shelby Drop will lower the front end, but the rear still needs to be lifted, in my opinion. Those are only 15" Magnums on the car and there's no gap between the tire and the wheel opening. That can't be right.

I agree 100%,,, IMO these cars look a lot better with the improved stance that can only be achieved by lifting the rear of the car....

Besides,,,, you will get better gas mileage if the car is not always going uphill....

They came from the factory with that look so if everything is new and stock it will naturally have that look.I did 4.5 leaf mideyes and 620 springs up front and a coil cut out.And im running 225/45/17. The stance looks dead level. It does help that i have 2 amps to subs and a batter back there

Thats strange how it didn't change anything, my mustang used to sit just like yours in the top image. i checked the rear wheel wells before the install and i had about 2 fingers of clearance, after the install i had about 5 fingers. i didnt swap out my shocks though, just the springs and shackles.

btw, your car makes my ride look dirty. i dig those rims too. i was thinking about picking some up, but i've got it on these 66 falcon special edition painted rims that actually matched my factory paint code.

Sorry for the hijack, but if someone put a bolt and shackle kit on the rear of my 65 mustang, or taller leaf springs, would that interfere with getting a rear sway bar?

smeezor depends on how much higher the rear is over stock when you lift the rear of a car its gonna handle like crap with or with out a rear sway bar.cuting a coil spring is never a good idea the heat of a touch or saw can weaken the spring.the shelby drop is nice if you get the different ball joint for the upper you need a oem one will bind in hard cornering maybe break. http://home.bresnan.net/%7Edazed/drop

You can cut slowly with a 3" cutoff wheel. When i did mine it produced next to no heat and didnt take too long
