Kinda looking forward to trashing the rearend once the engine is in. Not sure how much damage would occur, so it's probably not a great idea. It'll hold up for a short while with non-spirited driving.

I've restored cars before, so I know all about the "might as well" philosophy.

I'm with Artic on this....is 5800 too much as mentioned earlier? maybe.

you have alot of expense ahead of you with the engine swap brakes etc..
If you do it over time....won't hurt near as bad.....or at least that is what we
tell ourselves. LOL

Not yet, I think I'm gonna offer him $5500and see if he bites. The thing is, the engine and tranny would cost me between $2k and $3k, so the asking price is really only $3900-$4900, depending on how much value you assign to the engine/tranny. So I'm still kinda on the fence.

I've looked at others that were cheaper, but they always required massive sheet metal replacement, so I'm thinking even at $6900, with the engine and tranny, it would not be a bad deal. But other members have differing opinions, as you have seen.

I'd still like any and all opinions.

OK, the deal is done. I don't have the car yet but should get it this weekend. Final deal was for $5600. I think this is a great deal based on the condition of the body shell, the fact that it is 100% complete and the engine and transmission that come with it.

Really helps that he was a friend of the family, I don't think he really wanted to go that low.
