I was gonna keep my 67 a sleeper but the 408 wouldn't fit under the stock hood by a long shot and I ended up going with a 3" cowl and pinned the thing on. After that I was like screw it and put the Flowmaster 40's on and dumped the exhaust. Its now about 2% sleeper.

ha , I believe JMD has a 408 under his belt with a regular hood i believe .

I heard something about aftermarket mounts that helped keep the engine a tad bit lower which made all the difference.

My idea of a sleeper is a older car with a torn vinyl top a few rust holes, definatley has hubcaps with spinners a super quiet exhaust and a fake 3 on the tree shifter. If somebody driving a car like I described pulls up next to you at a red light and grins.................just let him go.

I think the award for best factory sleeper has to go to the Buick Grand National

hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm I don't know, a sleeper would run like hell but I like the "look" and "feel" of a super high performance car/truck like this one, even if it ain't street legal.

My idea of a sleeper is my SHO.

Right now she is the perfect sleeper. After paint, she will still give most people a nice surprise.

How about the 86 Shelby GLHS, the one that used the Dodge Omni body? IIRC, it was faster than a GT350 in some magazine test.
