So what do you classify as a sleeper?
i have a 95 hyundia elantra paint is shot clear coast flaking off. i have a 4g63 in it its the 2.0 dohc turbo out of a eclipse i changed to a bigger turbo a 16g. its 2000lbs with about 300hp. it has no traction from a dead stop i still got the ugly hyundia hubcaps on it.funny part i only have 1500 total in it what most kids spend on rims and tires i have yet to loose to a import here.
I win!!! Thread closed....
Yep.
A sleeper should be a four door. With skinny tires, and full or no hubcaps. Dog dish hubcaps came on too many musclecars and are a dead giveaway.
Steel wheels, no hubcaps.
A few dents and a little rust doesn't hurt either. The fatter tires can hide in the trunk if you really want them.
Back in the day Rodders would buy the drivetrain out of wrecked musclecars (there were a lot) and bolt it right into a pedestrian version of the same car. Motor, tranny, and rearend. The more beat up the body the better. Handling was never an option. You had ***** just driving the things.
I remember a a maroon '67 Chevelle four door running around East Boston with a broken spring in the front and an LS6 454. The story is that the drivetrain came out of a '70 Chevelle that a dope bought instead of paying his gambling debts. Bad move.
We watched as two "Goodfellas" took axes to the car while complimenting the owner on his sweet ride.
They totaled it.
"This your new car?"
WHACK.
"I'll bet it flies."
WHACK.
"Did you get a good deal?"
WHACK.
WHACK.
WHACK.
" Johnny wants to see you."
I was going to say Omni GLHS also but someone beat me to it. My cousin had one, bought it after he sold his 68 Camaro. I have to admit I was like What the *&^%! You went from a classic Camaro to a 4 door Omni?! But man, I was impressed when he took me for a ride. Definite sleeper.

I always liked nonperformace cassis for my sleepers. I had an 85 Ranger with a 302 under the hood and a 78 Olds Omega I got from a little old lady when the engine blew and I put a 455 under the hood. Keep the interior stock and the exhaust quiet.
Stock rim centers welded into bigger hoops with hubcaps, bench seat and ripped interior, four doors and a bad paint jobalso helps.
