Dumb question, but I've seen a few people get so discouraged or upset that they forget... Have you checked the fluid level / color?

Is it grinding badly, or did you have any previous HARD shifts? Do you normally floor it from a dead stop to get the nice little hop from the extra torque created by the torque converter?

Yes I have fluid, I just rebuilt it, and yes my car was running when I cheacked it, I have had no hard shifts, but yes I do floor it quite often.

If these symptoms started with your rebuild & reinstall. There is probably a problem in your valve body. Even small mistake there, like a check ball not in the right spot, can result in real trouble.
This linkhttp://www.network54.com/Forum/260730/ is to the Ford Transmission Forum, they deal in nothing but Ford Trannys. Try posting there, with as much information as possible. Like what kind of tranny, C-4? And what exactly you did(Just replaced clutch discs??), and when the symptoms were first noticed.

A "no shift" situation is almost certainly not a torque converter issue.

Like EFI says, it is probably a valve body issue.

Could be valve body, or the seals in the direct...did you open the VB during the rebuild.

You didn't reuse the old torqueconverter did you? I've heard from tranny guys that that is a definite no-no.

Had mine rebuilt, put it in, shifted one time stuck in second gear even in park. Corrosion in valve body. Took it back in the car. They took it apart fixed it . Its good now, no charge!
