Default Block question

My block has the casting code: E7TE (which means: E = 1980s/ 7 = 1987/ T = Truck/ E = ?)

I was wondering if this is a 302 or a 289 and if the T means that it came out of an Explorer in 87 or an F-150 or what? Any ideas? My intake manifold reads "Edelbrock 289 Performer" but I know that does not automatically make it a 289.

An E7 block is a roller 5.0 motor out of...something from 1987ish. Not sure what the E means, but I don't see how it's really important either.

If it is in fact a 1987,,, it is for sure not a 289.... by 1987 the 289 had been out of production for about 20 years...

Probably a 5.0 (302) or possibly a 351... I don't know the codes so that is about it for me on this subject....

TE is a Mustang I think. T=Mustang E=Coupe I believe. My block is an F1SE which was manufactured for a 91 Thunderbird Coupe

cant always trust the TE after the E7 because ford used that EXACT same block in everything from a crown vic to a mustang to a truck to a van. but yeah being an E7 its a roller and is anywhere from 87-up. there were a few years that had forged pistons from the factory, you may have a nice short block on your hands. the intake says 289 cause when edelbrock made those ford was still making 289's instead of 302's.

oh and jmd, my 289 is using a E7TE 302 block, roller cam ready for future plans FTW

My 347 stroker is that same very block. It's a roller for sure.

Congrats man! I will be glad to see you get that II tearing up the blacktop again!

I bet that car is a kick to drive....

I am assuming you will be building for some killer RPM? I have alwas wanted to build a short stroke screamer..... been talking about it for 20 years,,,,
