Yes, it is. It bolts in between your shock towers to keep them from flexing inward during cornering. Keeps the car flatter in corners to improve handling. It kinda feels like adding a bigger sway bar, without the reduced ride quality.

However, you should think about an export brace first. This is a one-piece shock tower brace to replace your flimsy factory two-piece setup. It not only ties the shock towers together, it also ties them to firewall. If you had to pick between the two, the export brace would be more important. But they function very well together and are both fairly cheap, so for $70 or so you can drastically improve your handling without modifying your suspension.

They're fairly cheap too, between like 20 and 50 bucks is what I've seen.

If you go to install the export brace & find the bolts dont match up. Jack the car up and let the front wheels hang off the ground over nite, The chassis should "relax" enough to fit it in then. I actually had to resort to using a bottle jack to help push the shock towers appart, before mine would drop in. That in itself should tell you how much they, both , do help stiffen the chassis.
The front alignment will need to be done again then too.

What year Mustang are you working on ? There are bars available for all years but the store offerings for the 71-73 don't fit. I made my own for my 73 and I saved the pattern if you need one. If your car is a 71-73 with air, it's going to be darned near impossible to make one fit. JMHO, Dean

I put both on my 'vert. I couldn't believe how they took all the cowl shake away. The front fenders and hoodare rock solid now. I would recommend everyone use them.

I love the Monte Carlo bar, I also installed the export brace, they go hand in hand.

I hear the straight one is stronger (especially on impact)...but the curved is more asthetically pleasing and it's also better if you plan to make some mods like EFI, etc...

You can go either chrome or all black, I went all black.
