i went to kregans and i herd them saying edelbrock makes holley is this true?
Actually, Edelbrocks are made by Weber. I just rebuilt one the other night, right there on the side big as Dallas, it says "Weber".

Tyler-

I think any properly tuned (and correctly sized) carb can get you the results you are looking for. People here have had both good and bad luck with all brands of carbs. I've learned that a vacuum guage is an invaluable tool for carbs. Here are a few tuning links to help you out.

Good luck!

This post is 4 months old. which I suppose is better than ANOTHER carburetor thread, lol.

I do notice that I missed a retarded post. I actually do carry a fire extinguisher(which everyone should anyway for any number of reasons). Never had my Holley leak either. And I'm always amazed at how many people think Holleys suck, when if you look at competition race cars like Pro Stock cars, or Nextel Cup, or even the occasional carb'd road racing car(I've seen one as recent as 2005 in Grand Am, a Mustang no less ) all use a Holley design for a carburetor.
