Different Ideas?
I am still thinking about doing a radical "Restomod" build within the next two years. I would like it to be kinda different and include some things that may have not been done before. I will start with a 65 Fastback (its a hull only and would be hard to put back original) and would like to include elements of all the different generations of stangs. The more heads, the better.I like to hear new ideas. As an engine, I would like to use a Modular 4.6, with a couple of twin turbos mounted in the rear somewhere. This being my favorite forum, I would like to hear from you.
Yeah baby..Mod 4.6, but go with a Kenne Bell Supercharger. Turbos just take up too much real estate. I'm really liking the move to super clean engine bays...ala street rods...
Turbos in the rear... nah. Too much plumbing associated with that to look good and just to be different. A supercharger under the hood if you're looking for power.
There was a '65 that was featured in Mustang Monthly about a year or so ago that was goldish color but a resto-mod. Had a 351W in it and all was tastefully done. I think the owner's name was Jerry Shelby (no relation). THAT is a nice car. I'd incorporate some of the tasteful things that he did and take it a step beyond. The "beyond" part is up for debate - the "Reactor" car that the Ring Bros did is wayyyy toooo over the top for my taste.

Really radical would be to make a hybrid engine restro-mod I am not sure if ford have hybrid engines on the market yet but I think that would be a radical concept. I know it is not exactly what you were thinking but.....You would need really deep pokets for this
I have seen the Reactor and also think its too over done. The clean engine bay will be a must, but with Modulars, it will be hard to hide all the wires. As far as the carb, not on this one, too simple. Last weekend I did look at over a thousand street rods. I had to wonder where some of them put the wires only to find out later some of them were pushers only.
Fat Man fab has a really trick tubular front end set up that will allow you to use a mod motor or traditional. I was seriously considering it for my project. Kinda pricey, but cool. I was thinking about using that front end set up with a mod cammer motor..
