what kind of manuel transmission would you'll recommend getting for a 289, that should be putting out about 300hp to the wheels,
i would like to get it from a junk yard or refurbished so if you know what kind of auto they come in please let me know.

T5 5-speed with an aftermarket shift that has positive shift stops. I've used them behind 302's and a 351W with 400 hp. The only problem I ever had with a T5 was with a stock shifter that broke a pin inside on a hard shift, hence the need for the aftermarket shifter.

You can get them out of multiple years of 5.0L Fox BodyMustangs, some being stronger than others. Look for the tag on the transmission and look up the code to see what year, gears and torque rating the transmission has.

the later the years the stronger the tranny, 92,93 fox body i believe was rated at 315 ft. lbs, those were the years they switched to the world class t-5, if im not mistaken.. and i've seen the wc t-5 hold up to 375hp and the guy dumping the clutch at 4k they are alot stronger then they are rated,
