Default Ooo, my back!

How heavy are the standard 9" with drums, approximatley? I just dug mine out of my friend's garage, loaded it (in the metro lol), and unloaded it myself and man are these beasts heavy.

There are some differential performance parts that lighten it, but are they worth it? I know there are aluminum casings, yokes, and entire housings, but would a lightened rear even be worth the extra dinero, or be as strong as steel?

Your car will never notice any slight weight savings in the rear.

IMO, a 9" with drums will weigh between 210 and 240... just a guess from memory.....

Hahah, that one made me laugh out loud.

I was guessing about 250, so that seems pretty close JMD. Im only 165.

Getting it in place under the car was more of a challenge, since its only on jacks.

If I were to do it again, I would drop the springs from the rear shackles, and install the rear from the back using a jack. It really sucked pulling that sucker in from the side,,, over the spring,,, while trying to hold the yoke from going nose down into the concrete....
