Default 160 tooth flywheel

hey all does anyone know if a 157 tooth ring gear is a direct replacement for a 160 toother?my 160 has a broke tooth and the starter always catches that spot and wont turn the engine over.i would change the whole flywheel but my engine was balanced with that one.it is from a 65 4-speed 289.for those that dont believe there is a 160 tooth flywheel the part# is c3oe-6380.thanks al

If you are going to pull the flywheel to have a new ring gear welded on wouldn't you be better off buying the 160 and having it rebalanced? If you have a new ring gear welded on wouldn't that throw it out of balance compared to your present balance weight? There is a lot of confusion and discussion reguarding the 157/160-164 tooth flywheels. I believe 157-160 have the same dia but am not sure. Do a google search and I hope you have a lot of time to read up on this. Good luck and sorry I wasn't much help. I'm sure someone here has had a similar experience.
