Are all carbureted (probably spelled wrong) cars so hard to start? I've found that i have to pump it twice, start it, rev for about 5 seconds and THEN she will be fine to go in the morning. After the first start, she just needs one pump. This can't be normal?
Wow, this post suddenly make me feel very old...

Tell your friend to put a small phenolic carb spacer on his 347, should get rid of the vapor lock problem

Im going to Barnes & Nobles today to get a book on carbs. My friends swears to me that you should never have less than 5 carbs.

Your Street Avenger will work better once you have it set right. Mine fires right up, and only requires me to rev it a little bit to get some heat into the chamber when it's really cold out(I also run straight 30, so it's fighting cold oil as well), but the choke works great even with the fast idle at only like 1,200-1,300rpm.

I dont understand what ppl mean when they say a "fast idle"? Is it the same as the idle speed ? Or is it two diff things?

Two different things. Fast idle is controlled in the same way as regular idle, but with a different screw. The fast idle screw works off the choke linkage. There is a "step-up" cam that the screw rides on, it's on a low part of the cam when the car is warm, and on a higher step when the car is cold.
