A Newb question....
Are all carberated(probaly spelled wrong) cars so hard to start. Ive found that i have to pump it twice, start it, rev for about 5 seconds and THEN she will be fine to go in the morning. After the first start, she just needs one pump. This cant be normal?
yeah...thats normal...and unless you know something about tuning a carb i wouldnt try it, you could end up making it worse lol. its not something to worry about. i had a 1985 dodge ram a couple years ago that you had to sit and rev and stuff for like 2 mins before it would be good to go. so you're doin fine
Not quite abnormal, but not what I'd call normal. Should require 1/2 to 1 pump when cold, and should fire right up when warm, assuming everything's in good tune.
I'd check and adjust the choke
I'd check and adjust the choke

it usually takes 2 cranks to start the mach, but if it hasnt cooled down, it will start right up, also it dies if you dont give it a lil gas, but only in like the first minute or so
It also depends on how the choke it set too. Mine is usually 1 pump, fires right up, then hold it at like 1,500rpm for a few seconds and it's good. Unfortunately the way my engine operates, I can't turn the fast idle speed screw in without interfering with the curb idle speed. If you can set the fast idle a bit higher then you can get away with it firing over and not needing any attention. Also depends on the engine build too, the more wild the engine, the bigger the cam, the crankier it is when it's first started up(usually)
Welcome to the world of carbies. If its not for you, I hear hondas start right up.[:'(]
Seriously though. Letting the car warm up a little before driving away is a very good thing for your engine.
The magority of engine wear occurs while an engine is cold. Letting it warm up at low revs minimises that wear.

I don't know your set up or any of the specifics, but my general experiance is:
1 - Cold starts SUCK!
2 - Vapor lock SUCKS!
3 - Most carbs (unless fresh out of the box and newly installed) will need a little warm up before they will run on their own.
I never had one with a working choke, but if yours works, learn how to use it or just lightly press the accelerator until you can let the car idle without it being rough or cutting out. Tuning and a VERY good cleaning of the carb will help a lot. Your absolute worst case scenerio, you'll have to have the carb rebuilt, but from the sounds of it, it's just a tuning/cleaning/everyday carb thing.
Best of luck.
I've had 3 different carbs, an Autolite 2100 and then4100 on my C code, and now an Edelbrock 600CFM on my 331 build. Each one, with the proper choke adjustment, would require 1/2 to 1 pump when cold, fired on the 1st or 2nd crank, and had the fast idle set at 1500 to keep the car running while it warmed up for a minute or two. If everything's in good working order, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get the same from your setup.
