Default Remake Part Safety

are the remake parts like hoods fenders front ends bumpers etc. less safe than original parts since they arnt made of metal but fiberglass or plastic?

In a crash, the old mustangs are crap, metal or fiberglass.
The best reason to get the after market fiberglass parts is the weight savings.
Less weight = faster. I have fiberglass hood and trunk lid. A few pound here and there add up.

True - some of the reproduction fiberglass Shelby hoods may save a few pounds here and there; but that doesn't necessarily translate to safety. To be perfectly honest, if you're terribly worried about that - you shouldn't be driving one of these death-traps in the first place! What you'll want to concern yourself with (when buying reproduction body panels) is fit. Too often, these overseas fenders and quarters don't even come close to lining up. When replacing metal, always do your best to find good used pieces.

yeah...im not terribly worried, i was just curious. replacing metal with something similar to plastic jsut seemed unwise but i guess it makes no difference to begin with! and yes, ive heard many frustrating stories from my friends ordering fenders and hoods and what not that almost seemed like they were made for a differnt car.
